How To Check For Water Contamination In Your Hydraulic System
By T Holczer – Published 11/4/2008
- Visually check system oil with new oil
- Pour system oil into glass jar & new oil in another glass jar
- The new oil will have a sparkle/shine/crystal appearance
- System oil will appear dull to smokey to milky if water is present
- Visual check by heating smokey or milky system oil
- After some time of heating, if system oil becomes clear there is a probable chance of water contamination
- Use color dyed hydraulic oil to visually check for presence of water
- Call Western Integrated Technologies for laboratory oil samples and troubleshooting
