Update to Parker Brass Fittings Forging Conversion, Phase 2

Parker brass fittings now forged

Parker Hannifin’s Fluid System Connectors Division has released an updated notice regarding its ongoing transition from extruded brass fittings to forged brass fittings for select pipe fitting products. This latest update expands on the original conversion initiative covered in our previous article, Parker Brass Fittings Now Forged.

According to Parker, rising costs associated with extruded bar stock continue to drive the transition toward forged fittings. The company plans to discontinue approximately 100 catalog part numbers currently manufactured from extruded stock and replace them with forged equivalents.

The Phase 2 update focuses primarily on Parker pipe fitting product lines and includes newly published conversion schedules and additional affected part numbers. Parker states that the transition will improve manufacturing efficiency while maintaining the same fitting functionality and performance standards.

What Customers Should Expect

While the forged fittings will maintain the same function and meet applicable SAE and regulatory requirements, customers may notice slight dimensional and visual differences compared to the previous extruded designs. Parker notes that forged fittings offer improved durability due to grain structure that better follows the contour of the fitting, resulting in greater resistance to vibration and mechanical shock.

Updated Conversion Timeline

Parker’s updated schedule outlines multiple conversion phases throughout 2026:

  • Orders for the first affected group of extruded fittings will be accepted until May 18, 2026, with obsolescence beginning June 15, 2026.
  • Additional conversion groups will follow in August and November 2026.

The notice also includes newly added affected part numbers and recommended forged replacement parts. Examples include conversions such as:

  • 2202P-4-2 → 1202P-4-2
  • 2225P-4 → 1225P-4
  • 2205P-8 → 1205P-8

Customers using specialized tooling or applications with tight dimensional requirements are encouraged to review the updated drawings and replacement references carefully. Parker advises customers requiring PPAP approval to complete evaluations promptly to avoid potential supply disruptions.
